Resources To Inspire

The fantastic thing about our fellow animals’ movement…

…is we are made up from a diverse range of personalities and ideas. The hope with sharing the following resources is that we can all learn from each other and become the most effective and sustainable advocates for our fellow animals that we can be.

All of these resources are 100% free and shared with the intention of strengthening our fellow animals’ movement, and to empower those who advocate for our fellow animals.

Language

“Language is a double-edged sword. It is one of the most beautiful aspects of human cultural heritage; at the same time, it’s a weapon used to discriminate and dominate.”
-Hanh Nguyen, author of Tongue Tied

Language is everywhere and perhaps the most accessible way we can all improve our advocacy for our fellow animals. While some of the lessons are quick, others can take a lifetime to explore and evolve.

See our page on Language for more.

Communication Ideas

As vegans, whether we chose to or not we’ll likely have to talk to others about veganism and aniaml rights.

While this can be a daunting task at first, with a bit of preparation and some go-to ‘tricks’, talking to others about what our fellow animals are forced to endure can become manageable and even an enjoyable challenge at times.

What’s your ‘one-liner’ for why you’re vegan? What are one or two key questions you would ask someone who is vegan-curious? Let’s explore together!

Common Objections

“Where do you get your protein?!?”

As we talk to others about veganism and animal rights, it is inevitable we will be faced with a number of objections. Here is a list of the common objections (as well as the not so common) with ideas for how we can navigate and respond to each one.

Abolitionist Animal Rights

Tom Regan, the founder of abolitionist animal Rights

Tom Regan wrote The Case For Animal Rights, which is basically the foundation for abolitionist animal rights today. This short exert summarizes his position, and for those who are interested exploring his other work is highly encouraged.

Please also see our “Why Abolition?” page for more on this topic.

Objections (Focused)

Animal Rights can be a complex topic

The philosophical topic of animal rights has many details and nuances that can make it challenging to navigate at times. This short piece written by Tom Regan can help us to bridge the theoretical to the practicable, through several real life examples.

Self-Care

Self-care isn’t just about us.

If we don’t take care of ourselves, it will be very difficult to stay sustainable. By staying sustainable, we can have the longest impact possible. So when we take care of ourselves, we are also becoming better advocates for our fellow animals.
